Baptism

If you want to take the step to publically commit yourself to a lifetime of following Jesus, then we invite you to take part in the believer’s water baptism. This is an important and biblical way to demonstrate your belief in Jesus and His resurrection, and to declare your decision to follow Christ Jesus, making him Lord of your life. The act of baptism does not save us; rather it is an amazing picture of our oneness with Christ and our declaration that we connect ourselves to him as people who are living as new creations.

Thousand Hills Baptism services are held approximately three times each year. Please call the office or email us if you would like to talk to someone about baptism or sign up for a baptism Q&A meeting that will help you prepare for this significant step in your journey with Jesus.

Child Dedication

Child Dedication at Thousand Hills is a tradition where the parents have the opportunity to make a serious and solemn commitment to raising their child in the faith – to know Jesus as the unique hope for bringing reconciliation between God and mankind. Typically, this ceremony includes Scripture reading, prayer, a ‘family-pledge reading’ and a series of promises committed to by both the parents and the wider church family.

Child dedications take place throughout the year during our Sunday morning celebrations, so for more information, call the office or email us.

Marriage and family

Relationships do not come with an instruction manual, and while marriage is a beautiful thing, it requires a lot of work. That is why we have groups available to provide you with support, encouragement, healing or just a safe place where you can discuss marriage and family-related issues. Regardless of what stage of a relationship you’re in, you don’t have to journey alone.

Marriage Course

This course is for any married couple who wants to build strong foundations for a healthy marriage that will last a lifetime. If you want to sign up for the course, or you have any questions about what it involves, please contact Leon and Marjan Besters.

Pre-marriage counselling

We encourage every couple that wants to get married to meet with one of our elders or pastoral care workers for pre-marriage counselling. You may wonder if it’s necessary but in our experience, people have found it incredibly helpful to develop a relationship with another married couple where you can feel free to ask and discuss any question related to marriage. These meetings are meant to help you in creating a strong foundation for a healthy marriage. Call the office or email us for more information.

Weddings

We rejoice with you as you take one of the most important steps in your life. Would you like to request one of our pastors to lead your wedding ceremony or are you interested in using our facilities? Please don’t hesitate to make an appointment with us to talk about this special day! Call the office or email us.
