What kind of church is Thousand Hills?
We are an international, interdenominational church that is open to people from all backgrounds and cultures. Our aim is to bring people to Jesus, and to encourage our community to follow him as we serve God and others. To help us achieve this, we emphasise core values: exalt, connect, grow, reach and serve.
What are our meetings like?
A typical Sunday morning celebration lasts for approximately 75 minutes. During this time, we sing a few contemporary worship songs led by a team of musicians and singers, have a time of prayer, a chance to meet and greet the people around you and hear a message from the Bible that is relevant to your life today.
At the end of each meeting, there is an opportunity to pray with a member of our prayer team or one of our pastors. It is up to you how involved you get in the service – you’re welcome to join in, or simply sit back and observe – depending on how you feel the most comfortable. The service is always followed by a cup of coffee, a chat and a chance to get to know each other better.
What should I wear?
You can wear anything you feel comfortable in. Thousand Hills doesn’t have a dress code, so feel free to wear what you feel most comfortable in! Whatever you wear, we welcome you to be yourself.
Is there anything for children and teenagers?
KidsQuest is our childrens ministry and runs during the services on a Sunday morning for children between 0 -12 years old. We start with a fun time of worship and then divide into separate groups to learn more about the Bible through games, drama, crafts and other actvities. During the Dutch language service the program is in Dutch, during the English language service the program is bilingual.
At Thousand Hills we want our young people’s ‘God-experience’ to be relevant, exciting, challenging and purposeful. Mosaic is a bilingual group for 12 to 17 year-olds which meets every other Sunday during the English language service after the music. During this time, we discuss life issues, learn about God and have fun doing it. Mosaic is led by passionate volunteers who genuinely want to make a difference in the lives of our young people. We often organise special events on Friday evenings.
Can I meet the pastor or anybody else on the leadership team?
Yes, our leadership team is available at the Newcomers Meeting Point at the back of the sanctuary after the service and you are very welcome to join them there for a coffee or tea after the service.
