We are a diverse group of people from different cultures and backgrounds and together, we explore what it means to be a follower of Christ. Our doors are open to anyone of any background, belief or denomination who is interested in exploring the way of Jesus with us. By car from Utrecht (A27) or Amsterdam (A1)

If you are coming from Amsterdam, turn off the A1 onto the A27-Direction Hilversum, and then follow the directions from Utrecht.

Follow the A27 from Utrecht towards Hilversum, and take the Hilversum exit (N201). Turn left at the first intersection and follow the signs for ‘Ring (Zuid)’ in the direction of Loosdrecht until you come to a roundabout. Take the first exit (right) onto Utrechtseweg. At the next roundabout, take the third exit (left) onto the Gijsbrecht. After about 900m, turn left onto the Neuweg, or else park on the Gijsbrecht.

Parking on the Gijsbrecht is free on Sundays. The alley closest to the Neuweg leads directly through to the Zuiderkerk.

By train and bus

Take the train to Hilversum station, and then take bus no. 104. The nearest stop is after the Zuiderkerk, on Egelantierstraat.

You can find Thousand Hills at Neuweg 148, 1214 HA Hilversum. We’re based in the Zuiderkerk, a beautiful 1920s church building that had been abandoned for some years before we moved in. We’re easy to spot from a distance, thanks to the tall steeple!

We are an international interdenominational church that is open to people of all backgrounds and cultures. Our aim as a church is to bring people to Jesus, and to encourage our community to follow him as we serve God and others. To help us achieve this, we emphasize four core values: experience-based worship, reconciliation, relationships and multiplication.

What are our meetings like?

A typical Sunday morning celebration starts at 10:30am, and lasts for around ninety minutes. During that time, we’ll share a number of contemporary worship songs, led by a team of musicians and singers, as well as a time of prayer, a chance to meet and greet the people around you, and a message from the Bible that is relevant to your life today. At the end of each meeting, there’s always an opportunity to pray together with either the pastor, or else with a member of our prayer team. It’s up to you how involved you get in the service – you’re welcome to join in, or simply to sit back and observe, depending on how you feel the most comfortable. The service is always followed by a cup of coffee, a chat, and a chance to get to know each other better.

What should I wear?

Anything you like! Thousand Hills doesn’t have a dress code, so feel free to wear what you feel comfortable in! Whatever you wear, we welcome you to be yourself.

Is there anything for children and teenagers?

At Thousand Hills, we run engaging and age-appropriate classes for children between 0–12 during the service. We also have a group specially designed for teenagers, called Mosaic. This group leaves after the music section of the service, giving 12 to 18 year-olds a chance to meet up, discuss, and enjoy teaching that is relevant to them.

Who are your pastors accountable to?

Sebastiaan, our lead pastor, is ordained in the Dutch Assembles of God (the Verenigde Pinkster- en Evangeliegemeenten) and he’s a national leader of this movement. However, Thousand Hills welcomes anybody, from any background.

Can I meet the pastor or anybody else on the leadership team?

Yes you can! Our leadership team is always around, and you are very welcome to speak to one of them before or after the service. You can find out a bit more about them here.

We also aim to make church an enjoyable experience for our children, and that’s why we run special classes in both English and Dutch for our younger children during the Sunday morning celebrations. Thousand Hills provides an engaging and exciting environment where your children can begin to learn about the Christian faith with other children from the same age group.
