Are you new to Thousand Hills and want to find out more about us? Or maybe you’ve been here for a long time but haven’t had a chance to attend a Connect meeting. Please join us on June 24th for this important seminar which is necessary for membership at Thousand Hills. Connect will be organised in Dutch (from 11.00-12.30) and English (from 13.00 – 14.30).

The Connect meeting allows you to: 1) better understand the vision and values of the church, 2) more effectively connect with the church family so that it will truly become your church home and 3) find your place of service in Thousand Hills.

If you want to take the step to publicly commit yourself to a lifetime of following Jesus, we invite you to take part in the believer’s water baptism. This is an important and biblical way to demonstrate your belief in Jesus and His resurrection, and that you want to live in His way from now on.

On Sunday 10 June we will have baptisms during both services, in our own church building. If you’re interested please email Koen. A Q&A evening where we explore the meaning of baptism will be held on Tuesday 29 May at 19:30.

To celebrate the purchase of the building we are going to have a Neighbourhood Day party on Saturday June 9 from 1pm-3pm in Thousand Hills Church to welcome the community of Hilversum. We will organise many great activities for our “neighbours” to enjoy.

The children can have lots of fun jumping on the bouncing castle, having their face painted, creating balloon art and playing a famous Dutch game of cookie biting. Meanwhile the adults can enjoy a high tea, get a small make-over and pose for a beautiful portrait photo. Besides they can admire two art exhibitions: paintings from Evie Mol and sculptures from Anneke Kooij. They will also give a “live” demonstration of how they create their works of art.

Contact Marielle if you want to bake cakes and cookies to accompany the high tea, supervise children’s activities, serve coffee or welcome people at the door. Let’s make this a party to remember!

The Translation Ministry takes care of all the translation needs for the Dutch language service, both written and live on stage. We are looking for new people to join our team! Are you a native Dutch speaker, do you have a way with language and would you like to help us with the translations? Then it’s you we are looking for! Experience is not a must, we can provide training if needed. If you have any questions or would like to sign up, please contact Marieke Slagter.

Do you want to get more involved with Thousand Hills? There are many great opportunities for you to serve in a way that will fit you. You could serve in several ministries like Celebration Support, Thousand Hills Kids, Translation or in the design area. You can help out by joining the welcome or the coffee team, by volunteering to help with the ushering, preparing communion or serving as a supervisor. There are also a lot of opportunities to serve our Thousand Hills Kids by watching the babies in the nursery, teaching, playing or singing with children from different ages. If you like languages and you know your way around the Dutch and English language you can really help the Translation team. And if you have some knowledge of computer designing your creativity would be a huge help to the church.

Find a spot that suits you and experience how fulfilling serving can be. Feel free to contact a teamleader or a ministry leader for more specific information on how you could make the most out of volunteering here at Thousand Hills!

Prayer is an essential foundation  for all our ministries. Join us every Wednesday morning from 07.00 till 08.00 at church for prayer and for the Hour of Prayer (every first and third Thursday) at 19:30, also in the church. This week in the Hour of Prayer we will pray for those in Thousand Hills who are looking for new employment and for those affected by the financial cutbacks. Life groups are great fun, help you to grow in your relationship with God, are an awesome place to make new friends, give you a more intimate place to belong within the wider church and will help you to serve with the talents God gave you! With joy we can announce that our fund raising thermometer sits on the total of €750 000!  Last Sunday we had an amazing response to our Heart for the House offering with €43 831 raised! In addition to this offering and the €201 000 already raised, the city of Hilversum has confirmed a subsidy of €50 000 for renovation. The mortgage provider has confirmed that we can include this €50 000 in the €280 000 of “own funds” needed before the purchase of the building can go ahead.

We want to celebrate and praise God for all he has done in and through his people here at Thousand Hills. Two-thirds of our members have participated in the building fundraiser which is fantastic!  We look forward to purchasing our church home and beginning the renovations. If you missed out on the Heart for the House offering last Sunday then it is definitely not too late to join in. The more we raise the less we need to borrow!
